MEGA2560 2012 R3 is a new version of the MEGA series of controllers, with the following differences from the 2011 MEGA series:
1. Replace the 2011 version of ATMEGA8U2 with ATMEGA16U2 chip, and double the ISP FLASH capacity to facilitate more powerful function expansion and development needs.In addition to providing the traditional USB serial port function, ATMEGA16U2 also allows users to programmatically define other functions, such as configuring the USB port as a mouse, keyboard, game joker, camera, etc. Of course, the Arduino team has yet to announce specific implementation plans for these applications.
2. SDA and SCL(located to the left of AREF) are added to the external interface based on the 2011 version.The IOREF interface provides Shield with a voltage reference.And reserve a port on the left side of IOREF for future series compatibility.
3. The RESET circuit is improved over the 2011 version.Prevent accidental RESET and the RESET circuit is more stable.
Mega introduction:
Mega is a microcontroller development board with the ATmega2560 core, itself having 54 digital I/O input/output terminals (14 of which are PWM outputs), 16 analog input terminals, 4 UART (hardware serial ports), and 16 MHz crystal oscillator.
Since it has bootloader, it can download programs directly via USB without going through other external writers.
The power supply part can be supplied directly by USB, or use ac-to-dc adapter and battery as external power supply.
Power supply design
Mega"s power supply comes in two flavors: USB direct or external.
The choice of power supply will be automatically switched.
External power supply can choose ac-to-dc adapter or battery, the limit voltage range of this control board is 6V~12V, but if the voltage provided is less than 6V, I/O port may not be able to provide the voltage to 5V, so there will be instability;
If the voltage provided is greater than 12V, the regulator may be subject to overheating protection, especially if MEGA is damaged.
Therefore, the recommended operation power supply is 6.5~12V, and the recommended power supply is 7.5V or 9V.
