What is Gravure printing?
Gravure printing is to cover the entire surface of the printing plate with ink, then a special scraping mechanism is used to clean the ink on white empty area,let ink only remain in the picture and text part of the net hole. then under a greater pressure, transfer the ink to the substrate surface, obtain printed matter. Gravure printing belongs to direct printing. the graphic part of the printing plate is concave,, the degree of sag varies with the level of the image, the blank part of the printing plate is raised and in the same plane.
When in printing, the ink carrying body is a series of pits carved on the printing plate,The shape of the pit is totally same with the original artwork design. There is no ink on the surface of the plate.When the printing plate contact with the substrate,The ink in the pit is transferred to the surface of the substrate, then the printing is completed.Therefore, gravure printing has some unique characteristics that are different from other printing methods,them are below:
Advantages of gravure printing
1)Gravure printing is a kind of vigorous anti counterfeit printing method.like paper money, stamps, stocks and other securities, usually use gravure printing.
2)General soft materials can be used as a substrate of gravure printing, Such as plastic, paper, aluminum foil and so on. Especially for materials that are prone to stretch and deform,Such as textile materials, has a good adaptability, which letterpress and planographic printing can not be compared.
3)Gravure printing use a lot of ink when printing, the picture and text has a convex sense, and rich levels, clear lines, high quality. The printing of books, magazines, pictorial, packaging and decoration are mostly use gravure printing.
4)Gravure printing has a long plate making cycle,but the plates are durable,so suitable for bulk order printing,the order is bigger, the benefit is better.
