No section of clean energy is immune from the pugnacious trade policies of the Trump Administration. Given the global and interconnected nature of supply chains for manufacturing and the dominance of China in clean energy industries, the tariffs that have been imposed have affected not only solar, but most clean energy sectors.

And now the latest threat of additional tariffs may not only hit those that have so far escaped, but may undermine the nation’s limited battery manufacturing sector. Yesterday U.S. President Donald Trump announced that on September 1 the United States would impose a small additional tariff of 10% on all those imports that had not yet been subject to tariffs.
