Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) is a new technology that meets today's high-performance data transmission applications. It also meets the needs of future applications because it allows the system to supply voltages as low as 2V.

The LVDS interface, also known as the RS-644 bus interface, is a data transmission and interface technology that emerged in the 1990s. LVDS is a low-voltage differential signal. The core of this technology is to transmit data at a very low voltage swing with high-speed differential, which can achieve point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection with low power consumption, low bit error rate, low crosstalk and Low radiation, etc., the transmission medium can be a copper PCB connection or a balanced cable.

This technology is based on the ANSI/TIA/EIA-644 LVDS interface standard. LVDS technology features 330mV low voltage differential signaling (250mV MIN and 450mV MAX) and fast transition times. This allows products to achieve high data rates from 100 Mbps to over 1 Gbps. In addition, this low-voltage swing reduces power dissipation while providing the advantages of differential transmission. LVDS is becoming more and more widely used in systems with high signal integrity, low jitter and common mode requirements.
