Process of making horn buttons is outlined as follows

Cattle and Buffalo Horn

Step 1: Separate tip (solid part), hollow (empty or hollow part) and toggle.

Step 2: Cut the tip into slices.

Step 3: Cut the horn disk from each slice.

Step 4: These horn disks are processed as we manufacture the polyester button.

               

               

Step 5: Cut the hollow into 2 parts and flatten each part under steam and pressure.

Step 6: Cut horn disk out of these sheets.

Step 7: These horn disks are irregular in their thickness which needs special machines to turn them into buttons.These machines are manually operated to work on these horn disks in an old-fashioned way, including 3 minimum steps turning, back turning and drilling.

Step 8: Drill the toggles (one or two holes).These toggle buttons are used on Duffels coat or heavy coats.
