A: It can be judged by the following three methods:
1. Listening to the sound: If the brake is lightly accompanied by the sound of “ironing iron” or squeaking, the brake pad must be replaced immediately. Because the limit marks on both sides of the brake pads have directly rubbed the brake discs, it proves that the brake pads have exceeded the limit. In this case, when the brake pads are replaced, the brake discs should be checked. When such a sound occurs, the brake discs are often damaged and scratched. Even if a new brake pad is replaced, the sound cannot be eliminated. The brake discs should be replaced the brake discs in time. In addition, some bad quality brake pads have hard spots, which will also produce abnormal noise. In general, the abnormal noise generated will disappear after a period of wear.
2.Generally, we use the brake disc warning light on the instrument panel to illuminate as the basis for judging whether the brake disc should be replaced. Generally, the indicator light is off. When the brake disc is faulty or excessively worn, the light is turned on and is extinguished after repair. When the warning light is on, the brake disc has worn to the limit and the brake effect has been reduced, which greatly affects the safety of driving. Therefore, we recommend that we should check the brake disc wear condition regularly to see if it can be used, instead of just trusting the warning light.
3. Look at the thickness: Most brake disc products have wear indicators, which are three small pits distributed on the disc surface. Use a vernier caliper to measure the depth of the pit to be 1.5mm. In other words, when the total wear depth of the brake disc on both sides reaches 3mm, we recommend that it should be replaced in time. Of course not all brake discs have wear indicators. We can use our fingers to touch the extension of the disc to determine the approximate depth. Generally speaking, if the total wear depth of the brake disc on both sides reaches 3mm, the brake disc should be replaced in time. In addition, when the brake discs (drums) on both sides use different specifications of different brands, the friction effect is different, resulting in different brake effects on both sides, which will lead to brake deviation, poor braking effect and long braking distance. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the coaxial brake pads (hoof) on both sides to ensure the same braking effect.
