Recently, I was often asked by customers, can the timing belt produced by your company be used in cars? The following small series will tell you the difference between the car timing belt and the industrial timing belt!
Car belt
The timing belt that drives the camshaft of an automobile engine was originally used in the United States with a H-shaped toothed tooth in a trapezoidal tooth.
Later, in order to meet the requirements of large load changes, high speed and narrow transmission space, a special tooth type for the engine engine timing belt was developed, which was not interchangeable with the general industrial timing belt.
The tooth type of the car timing belt is divided into two types: ZA type and ZB type. The former type is similar to the L type tooth, and the latter is mainly used for high load engines such as diesel engines, and its tooth type is similar to the H type. For these two types of teeth, the international standards ISO 9010 and ISO 9011, the Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association standards JASO E 105 and JASO E 106 are detailed.
Driven by the demands of users to increase strength and reduce noise, the engine has also gradually adopted the curve tooth synchronization to drive the camshaft.

The timing belts used in newly developed automotive engines are almost always curved.
The pitch of the curved tooth car timing belt is 9.525mm and 8mm, which cannot be interchanged with the general industrial curved tooth timing belt. Current standardization work on this synchronous toothed type is still in progress.
