Optical fibre lighting is ideal to use in areas where it would usually not be easy or safe to run electrical wiring
Fibre optic lighting systems can make use of one light source to power a large amount of lighting points. This makes maintenance easy as with a star ceiling system for example you could have hundreds of ‘star lights’ but you only need to maintain at one point. With LED downlights you may need one driver for each light making maintenance difficult.
Fibre optics don’t produce any heat or UV radiation from within the light beam itself so this is ideal for highlighting delicate items such as a Museum or art gallery display.
You can use fibre optic lights in sealed enclosures as you don’t need to maintain the fibres or end fittings so these can be permanently sealed in place such as in a concrete floor or wall or built into your staircase to light up the way.
